 2016 Preview 


       Randolph County completed the 2015 season with a 13-1 record. The Tigers cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Randolph County captured the region five title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Tigers since the 1998 season. Randolph County made a nice playoff run in 2015, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Fyffe team by the score of 20-17.

       The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2003. The 592 points scored by the Tigers last year were a team record in a single season.

       The high-scoring Randolph County offense ranked 11th in the AHSAA. They averaged 42.3 points a game.

       Over the past two seasons the Tigers have gone 22-4 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Randolph County has gone a combined 42-24. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Randolph County has managed to compile a record of 163-115. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 3A and 95th in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers are led by head coach Pat Prestridge who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 79-39 over the past ten seasons at Randolph County. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have won one region crown with Coach Prestridge. Coach Prestridge led Randolph County to a state championship in 2003.

       Coach Prestridge's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 79-39 (66.9%).

       The Randolph County Tigers will play in Class 3A region five during the 2016 season. The Tigers move up in classification to Class 3A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Tigers enter the 2016 season riding a 12 game regular season winning streak. Randolph County has won 7 consecutive region games. They have won 8 straight games on their home turf at Hulond Humphries Stadium.

       The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region five this season.

      Andrew Prestidge returns for his junior season at wide receiver. Last year he caught 22 passes for 626 yards and 7 touchdowns.

       The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Barbour County on Friday, August 26 at Hulond Humphries Stadium. Last year the Barbour County Jaguars finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 3A region two.

       Randolph County and Barbour County have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 2-0-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in with

       Randolph County returns 2A All-State Junior receiver Andrew Prestridge. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
